WORLD’S LARGEST PLASTIC FLOATING DOCK FROM CONNECT-A-DOCK SHOWCASED AT THE HEAD OF THE HOOCH REGATTA
November 29, 2005 – ADAIR, IOWA – As a part of Connect-A-Dock’s continuing support of the rowing community, Connect-A-Dock has delivered two expansive plastic floating docks used at the Head of the Hooch held in Chattanooga, Tennessee on November 5 and 6, 2005. The Head of the Hooch draws participants from all over the country and was voted the best Regatta recently by The Rowing News. It is the largest Regatta in the south and one of the largest Regatta’s in the U.S. with 4,000+ participants and 1,000+ spectators.
“This dock installation makes the popular Head of the Hooch the fall Regatta of choice” said Dave Youland, Vice President, Marketing of Connect-A-Dock Inc. “Our easy-to-install dock systems are the preferred solution for rowing clubs worldwide. Coaches and athletes viewing our docks at the Head of the Hooch were impressed with our docks and their benefits of exceptional stability, low profile and ease of installation.” said Mark Coy, Connect-A-Dock sales director.
Connect-A-Dock was a key sponsor at the 25th annual Head of the Hooch, held this year at a new rowing venue on banks of the Tennessee River in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Head of the Hooch organizing committee moved this event to a new 21st Century Riverfront at Ross’s Landing on the Tennessee River. The new riverfront offers a rowing venue second to none, with several unique viewing locations including a pedestrian-only bridge offering a birds-eye view of the event activities. The revitalized Chattanooga riverfront has undergone an extensive $120 million renovation with many attractions within walking distance of Ross’s Landing including the Tennessee Aquarium, The IMAX Theater, The Hunter Museum of Modern American Art, The Creative Discovery Museum in addition to new and expanded parks and a paved walkway along the river’s edge.
The crowning feature of the new riverfront is the new Connect-A-Dock dock installation. This new installation features two new 12 _’ x 260’ low-profile 1000 series docks and two new 8’ x 50” gangways, believed to be the largest plastic floating rowing dock installation in the world. The stability, low profile and ease of maintenance allow multiple shells to launch and return from the docks at the same time.
“We are very impressed with the dock system that Connect-A-Dock has designed for us”, said Daniel Wolff, Regatta Director for the Head of the Hooch “This exceptional dock was the hit of the event and generated many positive comments. Our new dock made it incredibly easy for athletes to launch and return their shells. We were very impressed with the stable platform provided by our new docks. The addition of this dock has provided us with a truly world-class rowing venue.”
As a trophy sponsor, Steve Teague from Connect-A-Dock presented the Women’s Championship 4+ award at the event.
The Connect-A-Dock systems can fit almost any need, and the versatile modular sections can create many different shapes and sizes with little effort.
