The most important part of any floating dock is the flotation. That’s why we carry floats that use the most advanced manufacturing processes available to make sure the floats you use are the best in the industry. Each flotation shell is rotationally molded from durable polyethylene for a seamless, one-piece construction. They are filled with expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam. The Floats are manufactured from linear, virgin polyethylene resin containing UV inhibitors and carbon black pigment to protect against ultraviolet degradation. This resin offers a balance of toughness, rigidity, environmental stress, crack resistance and low temperature impact performance unmatched by any other material.
After a rotomolded shell is formed, small beads of EPS foam are injected and completely expanded in the shell utilizing steam. This process creates an airtight container that shields the interior from the marine environment. RhinoFloats will not sink or contaminate the water, even if punctured. The most common wall thickness is 0.15 inches, with thicker walls available.
